Stuart Florida Bed and Breakfasts are located on the coast of Central East Florida, ten miles south of Port St. Lucie and forty miles north of Palm Beach. The Atlantic Ocean sprawls out to the east and large Lake Okeechobee is an hour to the west. Opportunities for outdoor recreation are everywhere.

This stretch of Florida is known as the Treasure Coast; several Spanish galleons were shipwrecked off the coast in the 18th century, and some gold and silver treasure has been recovered. Divers continue to search and hope. Folks who are more interested in relaxing on the beach than hunting for treasure flock to Bathtub Beach, on North Hutchinson Island - one of the regions loveliest beaches. The name comes from the calm waters created by colorful, protective coral reefs.

Jonathan Dickinson State Park, south of Stuart, is a lush area on the Atlantic Coast teeming with wildlife. The Loxahatchee River meanders through the park, accessible by kayak, canoe, or the Loxahatchee Queen, a pontoon boat that leads passengers through otherwise inaccessible backwater areas. Keep an eye out for tortoises, manatees, and alligators. Visit the old homestead of Trapper Nelson, who lived here in the 1930s, and marvel at how he lived.

Downtown Stuart has charming historic buildings filled with shops and restaurants. Vibrant during the day, the area definitely goes to sleep at night. Guests of Stuart Florida Bed and Breakfasts interested in a more active nightlife would do well to head down to Palm Beach, where sidewalk cafes, restaurants and bars line Clematis Street, along with art galleries and shops.
