St. Petersburg is to Tampa what San Francisco is to Oakland. Situated in Central West Florida on a peninsula between Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico, it was from the outset intended to be a destination for travelers and snowbirds. With an average of 360 days of sunshine per year and a beautiful natural setting, it is no wonder that people have flocked to the area - and St. Petersburg Florida Bed and Breakfasts - ever since.

The cultural attractions of St. Petersburg are numerous. The Museum of Fine Arts houses the most comprehensive art collection (ranging from antiquity to the present) on the west coast of Florida. The Holocaust Museum features permanent and temporary exhibits that recount the history of the Holocaust through art, and historical photographs, writings, and artifacts. St. Petersburg's Salvador Dali Museum contains the largest collection of works by Dali outside Spain. A spectacular new museum is set to open in early 2011.

It is difficult to imagine a St. Petersburg Florida vacation that doesn't involve the water. Miles of sandy beaches invite beach walks and playing in the surf. Fishing charters lead anglers to the rich waters of the Gulf, and sightseeing cruises point out the most scenic spots along the coastline. Weedon Island Preserve is a fantastic place to enjoy nature trails and paddle a canoe. From scuba diving to windsurfing, paddling to parasailing - St. Petersburg has it all.

St. Petersburg Bed and Breakfast innkeepers are a great resource for their guests. They may share favorite restaurants and neighborhoods, the most unique shops and the best spots to watch the sun set.
