The Inn is unique in its location - right in the heart of the oldest part of the city, but private and serene in its own quiet corner. The narrow brick paved streets surrounding the Inn offer charming restaurants, museums, galleries, antique shops, historic sites and a variety of shopping experiences. Located on Florida's Atlantic coast, St. Augustine is a rich cultural center, with special events and celebrations in the old city throughout the year. A walk through St Augustine's historic district is not to be missed, and easy to do with the Inn as your headquarters. Guests of the Inn receive complimentary admission to the Saint Augustine Lighthouse and Museum, and 50% off admission to the nearby Oldest House - one of St. Augustine's finest treasures of Florida history.
You can ride a trolley or take a horse and buggy ride at the Bayfront. St Augustine's seaside Florida location makes all types of water activities readily available, including harbor cruises, fishing trips, coastal wildlife tours, and boat rentals. The Inn invites guests to spend time at beautiful St Augustine Beach, and provide towels and beach chairs. Visit popular nearby family attractions, such as Potter's Wax Museum, Ripley's Believe It or Not, the Alligator Farm, the Castillo de San Marco, The World Golf Village, and many others.
Festivals fill the calendar year-round, many commemorating historic events and presenting reenactments. Enjoy arts and craft fairs, seafood festivals, colonial celebrations, chowder debates, native American ceremonies, and torchlight parades. From November through January, Saint Augustine sparkles with white lights, celebrating "Nights of Lights" through the holiday season.
St. Augustine's "oldest inn" is the St. Francis Inn. Dating from 1791, the Inn embodies the rich history and culture of the nation's oldest city, and visitors are invited to delve into the stories that comprise its colorful past. Anna Dummett converted her family home into a lodging establishment in 1845. The Inn operated under many names until 1948 when it was christened "The St. Francis Inn." St Francis Inn has been placed on the National Register of Historic Places by the United States Department of the Interior.
