Gulfport Florida First Friday Events

Thursday, February 23rd, 2017

On the first Friday of each month, you can visit Beach Boulevard in Gulfport for the fun and fantastic Gulfport Art & Gallery Walk! The event features art from several different perspectives. There are paintings, sculptures, photographs and even fanciful art created from upcycled items. That’s only part of what they exhibit. You can also find hand-crafted jewelry, self-designed and handmade clothing, accessories and bath & body products. There’s something for everyone!

This week’s Adopt-An-Artist is Seventeen-year-old Lucas Pitzen. Lucas’s love of traditional tools and techniques make him a unique young man. Instead of sitting at his custom-built computer playing games he is researching the elements for his next project. Whether he is restoring an old block plane or creating a new piece of furniture his attention to detail is beyond his years. Lucas prefers using reclaimed and renewable wood products for his creations that range from simple cutting boards to finely crafted tables. Along with selling his woodworking he believes in giving back and has already made his mark in Gulfport having completed the Little Food Pantry for the Gulfport Neighbors. Lucas currently attends the Lakewood High School CAT program and works with Pitzen Studios where his hand building skills and work ethic are truly an asset.

When it comes to music, we’ve got you covered. There are several venues throughout the Waterfront District that host live bands, so you have your choice of who to listen to, or you can jump around and hear it all.

On top of all of that, downtown Gulfport features many unique shops, boutiques and galleries with charm you will only find here.  With over a dozen great restaurants, you are certain to find something that fits your taste, and it’s all within walking distance of all the evening’s festivities. Don’t miss out on your chance to eat at one of the foremost dining destinations in the Tampa Bay Area.

Admission and parking are complimentary, with courtesy trolley rides available from off-site parking areas. Gulfport events are pet and family friendly. We can’t wait to see you there!

The event is located near the surrounding area of 3101 Beach Blvd. S., Gulfport, FL 33707.   While there perhaps you’d like staying in the area at the Sea Breeze Manor , a Florida Bed and Breakfast Inn right in the Heart of Gulfport.

Best of the Road was born from a collaboration between Rand McNally and USA TODAY. The aim is to find and share the most interesting stops along the country’s highways and byways. Reviewers share their favorite small towns, pit stops, restaurants, and other points of interest.

Florida makes the list again and again, with towns, cities, and many fun spots. The Best of the Road is just one more reason to plan a Florida Vacation. We hope you’ll stay in Florida Bed and Breakfasts when you do.

Keep Gulfport Weird

One of many quirky shops in Gulfport.

Quirky Gulfport is just ten minutes from the heart of St. Petersburg, Florida. It’s a small, eclectic community with a big personality. If you like discovering small towns as well as big cities, consider spending some time in a Gulfport, Florida Bed and Breakfast.

Gulfport is a suburb of St. Petersburg, and as such, it is close to such attractions as the Salvador Dali Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. Yet it is possible to see fantastic art without leaving Gulfport. Art Walks, showcasing the works of local and regional artists, take place the first Friday and third Saturday of each month, from 6 to 10 p.m. During these events, the Art District of Beach and Shore Boulevards is transformed into a vast outdoor market with stalls, art demonstrations, and live music.
