The Rivers of NW Florida

A quiet paddle in NW Florida

Branford Florida sits in the midst of NW Florida‘s Spring and River country. It is a paradise for all who enjoy water sports. Canoe, raft, swim, and dive in the waters near Branford Florida bed and breakfasts.

Little River WMA  is a quiet area north of Branford encompassing more than 2,000 acres and a winding stretch of the Suwannee River. Paddle the river, horseback ride, hike and look for wildlife. Troy Springs WMA is adjacent to Little River and covers a four mile stretch of the Middle Suwannee River. Hike to Troy Springs to witness more than 65 millions gallons of water issue forth each day. Take advantage of two canoe launches and a nearby boat ramp, and explore the Suwannee while keeping an eye out for gopher tortoises, wild turkeys, and red-shouldered hawks.

East of Branford is Ichetucknee Springs State Park, where the startlingly clear waters of the Ichetucknee River meanders six miles through wetlands and shaded hammocks before joining the Santa Fe River. May through September the park is a popular place for tubing, canoeing and hiking, but come October, scuba diving is available in the Blue Hole (divers must be cave certified). It’s a magnificent experience for those who can take the plunge; snorkeling  equipment is available for rent should you prefer to remain closer to the surface.

After a day of exploration and outdoor recreation, quiet evenings await at your bed and breakfast Branford Florida. Fall is crisp in this part of Florida, meaning sleeping conditions are superb. Listen to the music of frogs as you drift off to sleep, and awake to the songs of birds in the morning. It’s idyllic.
