Florida Bed and Breakfast Inns

Wauchula Florida Bed and Breakfasts are located in Central West Florida, about 75 minutes east of both Sarasota and St. Petersburg. Wauchula is centrally located, an easy drive from the Gulf Coast, Orlando, and even Lake Okeechobee.

Yet Wauchula and the surrounding area have attractions of their own. Each spring, gyroplane enthusiasts travel from all over the globe to attend Benson Days Gyroplane Festival. This incredible cross between a helicopter and plane is something anyone interested in aviation should see (they don't make them like this at Cape Canaveral). Gyroplane scenic tours are offered during the festival, as well.

Another interesting attraction is Solomon's Castle, the home and galleries of Howard Solomon. This internationally recognized artist and sculptor uses discarded materials to create his unique sculptures. The artist himself is frequently found in his studio or enjoying a cup of coffee in The Boat in the Moat Restaurant.

Just south of Wauchula is the small town of Zolfo Springs, where Pioneer Days is held each spring. Antique tractors, steam engines and farm equipment are displayed. Demonstrations on pioneer living in Florida are presented by the Florida Frontiersmen, who reveal how to play a Native American flute and how to cook in an old style dutch oven. In addition, an enormous flea market sells everything from old tools to art, and there is live music daily.

Outdoor attractions include canoeing down the Peace River and fishing in early Hardee Lakes. Golf at Torrey Oaks, Bluffs, or Little Cypress Golf Courses, or ride an airboat. When nothing else sounds right, relax in a hammock at a Wauchula Florida Bed and Breakfast.
