Venice is a small city on the Gulf of Mexico in Central West Florida. Sarasota is less than 20 miles to the north and Cape Coral (think Sanibel Island) is ninety minutes to the south. Unlike most cities and towns on the Sun Coast, Venice sits directly on the Gulf of Mexico - there are no barrier islands or intracoastal waterways here.

Water is a draw, however. Guests of Venice Florida Bed and Breakfasts enjoy scenic cruises and deep sea fishing charters. Tours seek dolphins, manatees, and stunning sunsets. Just up the coast, guided kayak tours explore Sarasota Bay. Indeed, there are dozens of ways to experience the water around Venice, from scuba diving to parasailing.

Many travelers use Venice Florida Bed and Breakfasts as a base for exploring the greater Sun Coast. The Sharks Tooth and Seafood Festival celebrates the plethora of prehistoric sharks teeth found in the "Shark Tooth Capital of the World". Historic Spanish Point is an archeological, historical, and environmental museum on 30-acres in neighboring Osprey, Florida. The only exhibition enclosed within a prehistoric shell mound in the world is found here, along with pioneer buildings dating from the turn of the 20th century.

Sarasota and St. Petersburg may be well know for arts and culture, but Venice is no stranger to the arts. The Venice Theatre has been bringing outstanding theatre to the stage since 1950, when it humbly began in an aircraft hanger. In recent years it has been honored to host the International Amateur Theatre Festival. The Venice Symphony produces six concert series each year.
