Palmetto is beautifully situated at the mouth of Tampa Bay on the Central West Florida Gulf Coast. Palmetto Florida Bed and Breakfasts are close to superlative outdoor recreation and numerous cultural amenities in St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Sarasota. Nearby Bradenton also offers many attractions.

Bradenton's Manatee Village Historical Park brings history to life. It features historical buildings such as a Cow Hunter's bunkhouse and a "Cracker Gothic" home - a typical style in Florida. The Village of Arts in downtown Bradenton features a monthly ArtWalk that fills the streets with artists and art lovers. In addition to the ArtWalk, many galleries and studios regularly showcase the work of local artists.

About thirty minutes north, St. Petersburg is home to the incredible Salvador Dali Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. St. Petersburg's Holocaust Museum is also well worth a visit. Sarasota, to the south, is home to the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art and an impressive Classic Car Museum. Tropical birds are abundant in Sarasota's Jungle Gardens, which features ten acres of tropical gardens and jungle trails.

Finally, Central West Florida offers unparalleled outdoor recreation. Emerson Point Preserve in Palmetto is a magical world full of mangrove tunnels and enormous, ancient live oaks; it is worth the effort to hike to the Portavent Mound, an artificial flat-topped temple mound that is one of the oldest of its kind in Florida. The Bishop Harbor Blueway paddle trail in Terra Ceia Preserve State Park circles Bishop Harbor and leads to Tampa Bay.

Use Palmetto Florida Bed and Breakfasts as a base for exploring all that Central West Florida has to offer, or simply as a relaxing retreat.
