Magnolia Plantation, The

The Magnolia Plantation Bed and Breakfast Inn is a completely restored 1885 French Second Empire Victorian Mansion.  We are located 3 blocks from Gainesville's Downtown Historic Entertainment District.  The Inn has been owned and operated by the same Innkeepers that restored the historic structure into Gainesville's first Bed and Breakfast Inn in 1990.  Over the years we have purchased and restored the surrounding Cottages  and incorporated them into the Bed and Breakfast Inn.  When full, we can accommodate 40 guests.  The Main House and Cottages are situated on almost 2 acres of landscaped gardens with ponds, waterfalls, fountains and a gazebo, under a tall tree canopy.  There are many spots in the gardens to relax, listed to a fountain and sit for a spell.
There are five guest rooms inside the main house, all with private baths and fireplaces.  The Seven Cottages surrounding the Main Inn all have their own unique character.  Many with their own private gardens.  Key Lime Cottage is perfect for a larger family with its 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.  The Carriage House is the most romantic cottage with its Jacuzzi with a stone waterfall filling the tub, fireplace in the bedroom and another in the bathroom.  The Carriage House also has 600 square foot wrap around verandah.  The Cottages all date from the late 1800's through the mid 20th Century, covering many periods of architecture from Victorian through the Arts and Crafts period.
Children and pets are permitted in some of the Cottages.  Smoking is not permitted inside the main house or in any of the Cottage.  A full breakfast is served and snacks are available throughout the day.
Gainesville is the perfect place to ride a bike, visit a museum, tube or canoe down the river ,take in the theater or just sit on the porch.  We are located 1 hour from either coast and 2 hours north of Orlando.  Many antiques shops are located within a 20 minute drive from the Inn.
